i tip the Hookers all the time..... except for that one that looked like a lady and hot and stuff.. turned out to be a man... but other then that....
LOL

some very good points already written ...

i dont think i should be forced into a tip. so what if the waitress is only making $2 hr... its her choice to work there... so dont expect me to tip with bad service... but with good service i will tip ...
now getting something done for $3000 or over , is a dif story ..

but for any above and beyond service , some type of tip is good... even if its buying the workers a soda....

piss on that! id tip a tat artist cuz more than likely if ur a regular and tip decent he'll do some work for free down the road. plus you'll tell friends about him/her.

tipping waiters/waitresses is a diff story. if ur a good server youll get what i think u deserve. no percentage of my bill crap. u suck, u get nothing. ur good, ill tip damn good.

tipping a shop that uve spent an agreed couple thousand dollars at....nope, wont happen, never. doesnt make sense to me. tip if yall wanna but itll never happen with me.

haha oh man id check your food at any restraunts you're a regular in.

What's with this "bad service, no tip" stuff? I figure if I go out to a restaurant and expect other people to bring me food while I sit on my ass, they deserve to get paid for it. It isn't a "tip", it's payment for services rendered. If I consider the service great or awful, I still had someone do the work for me. If I'm not gonna tip, my ass has no right to sit down at the table. Has to be really bad service for me not to tip. I go out for the food and time with friends. I'm not gonna let the service ruin my leisure time. Life's too short.

they do get paid. they aren't working for free. And if they don't make enough in tips to make min wage after their 2.15 an hour, the establishment covers the gap.

What will definitely NOT get you a tip, Is if you abandon serving my table well to concentrate your efforts on another table.

Especially if I am in a group so your '15%' tip is built in and then you don't give a damn about any extra.

If I have to ask for refills. If you don't come by regularly. If I have to sit around waiting on you for 15 minutes to ask for the check. If I have to sit around waiting forever to get my change.

The proper term is GRATUITY. It is something you GIVE becasue you are Grateful for the exceptional service you received... not for them just doing their jobs.

I might tip the tire tech who mounts my tires, because I make them take them off and put them on by hand (and on with a torque wrench), and ask them to be set them to a specific PSi front and rear. That and it is HOT out there.

Would I tip a mechanic? Dunno, been tipped before, but only for doing things like working on a day off for someone who was traveling and had a breakdown, For getting a job done a day or more before a pressing deadline on a rush job like fixing a race car. For getting the job done cleanly and on time? probably not. I did tip the guy who set my rear toe and camber because he had to take the exhaust off to do it, and because he came and asked me exactly which specs I wanted, and brought me back to show me it dialed in and double check it.Mght I buy him a 6 pack or some cold gatorade or ice tea if we had an existing relationship, or if it was F'ing hot as hell that day? Possibly

I do everything myself except mounting tires.

I think its personal preference if u want to do it if not dont. But i also dont think anyone should just expect it either, i have been tipped and i do tip at times but it really pisses me off when there is a tip jar in places

Hey Keef. . .I don't think the "tip" they are talking about is the same one that you are talking about giving and receiving. We ALL know how you love "tips". LMAO. . .sorry I had to

Why does this whole thread make me think of the opening scene from Reservoir Dogs? Mr. Pink doesn't believe in tips. . .
