--------------------------------------------- Originally posted by GraphicDisorder Control arm companies using the "lost in shipping" excuse blows my mind.  Ive been shipping basically every day for almost 8 years now, ive never had something get lost in shipping.  This was Barnyards big down fall (false/fake tracking numbers).    --------------------------------------------- I can't comprehend this either. I use UPS because they pick up at my shop. The only issue I have with them, is sometimes they don't show up for a few days, and I either have to wait for them, or drive 20 miles to ship with them. It's inconvenient for me to drive that far, but I do it if I need to.   I have used USPS pretty often, because they are close when I need to drop something off. I have had issues with them not being able to find an address and sending the package back to me, which is frustrating, especially when they want you to pay to ship again. And I have had things arrive, to and also from me, in very damaged packages. But the parts, being steel, usually survive.   Those are the only issues I've ever had with a shipping company. I've never had anything get lost. I hear DHL is slow, but they don't loose things either.

If you would like to follow the pattern of Control arms

Any small time shop that starts out with quality product will get buried. One of the super cool threads had this point.. People put out a good product. It gets hyped on the net. Everyone and their brother hypes the product ( even if they don't have it) because so and so has it so it must be awesome. Everyone floods said shop with business. Steel suddenly becomes hard to get. Anyone complaining on SSM is a rarity. Others don't speak up in fear of losing whatever 'spot' they perceive to have for their part. Excuses 'Getting made tomorrow' 'On the jig as I type' 'waiting for machinist to come through on (insert part here)' 'My wife left me' etc etc UPS or any shipping service become senile and can't seem to either remember to pick up the order or where to drop it off. Shipping company is so inept it can't even give out a good tracking number Shops friends hop on how they are stand up guys and would never do that. Everyone believes the shop because the first person to usually speak up is a ‘nobody’ in the scene. Said shop fixed its problems and will get back on track. Said shop will not remember the customer and would like everything but a DNA sample. When that is supplied said shop suddenly remembers a completely different story. If you are going to build arms. Try a seth or max approach. Take in the orders you can build. When you can legitimately take in more then take in more. When I handled the TP watts kits I stopped taking orders when the supplier wasn’t quick enough with the parts. It’s unfair to all to take in orders, lie and think it will magically correct itself.

Just some basic facts.

The internet is a great way to sell a product. In turn it is a great way to put out that you aren’t getting a product. UPS. It is one of the largest shipping companies in the world. Shipping to every country in the world. No way do they suddenly just screw up on control arm orders. Banks may suck at investing money. But they are really good about taking it. If you take deposits. Take half. Then you have half as much to give back if you don’t deliver.  Banks can't seem to deposit refunds correctly

Good points! Its easy to get in over your head. When I start getting swamped with orders I let the customer know that I am busy and tell them how long they may have to wait so they can decide if they still want to purchase parts from me.

Once again Jim comes through with an epically well thought out post.   I also, like Chris, tell people when I am overly busy and it may take longer to get the arms out. I have an online store, and I once got an order for arms when I had two full time projects on my plate at the time, and I told the person that ordered the arms I probably couldn't ship them for at least two months, and offered to refund the order he just made if this wasn't acceptable.

Id get everyone together and sue.  Likely the best way to get your money back and to put some heat on them.    One thing about minitruckers that blows my mind is the amount of money they are willing to spend without getting anything and the worst they do to the shop/person is tell their story on the internet.  All your really doing is making sure your never going to get anything because they have been outted.  Id get legal with them, and quick.  So you get your money before they have none to give.   Wont be long, they have these threads on BLF on a lot of boards now.

We had the smae thing on S-10 forum and when i asked who was missing stuff out of the people bitching only 2 people where realy missing stuff. Like i said on s10 forum if yu are missing something email me or call. we will get it taken care of. we had some problems with emplyees and we are trying to fix the few things that came from that. If you dont call to inform me how am i sopsot to know you are missing something. The reason no one is sueing is becasue they know i havent fucked them they just love to internet bitch, which is fine thats what the internet is for. lol      But like i have said before if you are missing something or want info on when you part will ship call or email. if you call leave a message and i WILL call back, we are very busy and i am the only one i am letting answer the phone for the next few weeks because when i let other answer the phone is where the problems came up. This why i know whats going on completly insted of geting second hand info from the customer or employee.      No one has no gotten there parts ever just some have taken longer then others! period. If we fucked so many people how come we are still in business and still selling products?   Richie

$2200 dollars on a set of arms, are people out of their minds, LOL! Maybe I should rethink my prices, I feel bad about charging $600 for a hand made quality part that you WILL get. If anyone wants to spend that kind of money, PLEASE give me a call, LOL!
