What was mentioned has happened it was simply known as PIGEON FORGE. But the city soon got tired of the antics of the minitruckers & the mentality of the minitruckers changed.

I GOTTA SAY TEX MEX WITH TRAE ON THIS ONE.  I SAW ALL KINDS OF PLATES LAST YEAR THERE. AND THIS YEAR WILL BE AT LEAST TWICE AS BIG

Sounds like a awesome idea to try and do somethign like this. SEMA has to be out because not everybody or anybody can go there to the main SEMA part. Something in the texas middle of the country area is where it should be.  Ihave never been to TEXMEX but people say its a very great show to be at. I hope to make it there sometime.

What helps Sturgis stay so big is the fact that the town and the businesses in town support the gathering so much and cater to the people coming in for the rally. That being said, Tex Mex is the biggest baddest truck show and has the best chance of being the "Sturgis" of the truck show scene.

The old days of Pigeon Forge and Showfest will probably be as close as it ever gets.

i am agreeing with brandt on this one. I went to the last pigeon forge run and couldn't believe it i was amazed at what I was seeing. I was into cars and trucks back then but wasn't really into the customs world yet. I did muscle cars with my dad back then and went to shit like the super chevy shows and the drag races all the time. I just remembering passing thru pigeon forge on my way east from memphis to northcarolina i think is where we were going and seeing this amazing sight of cars and trucks all over with flashy paint sitting ow as hell and thinkin to myself wow that looks cool as hell. I wish pigeon forge hadn't been screwed up and I am glad showfest found a place to be reborn. I have been to a few showfests and it is amazing how the town rallied around the show and what the town did for the show to bad the locals that were into cars had to cause alot of problems.

---------------------------------------------Originally posted by h22wagon---------------------------------------------Originally posted by TuckingLugs05we need a show that is only for trucks and mini theamed cars --------------------------------------------- not tryin to offend but thats what will hurt it, make it swing to truck and "mini style cars" but dont close it off for others, this will not help the way hot rodders and such view minitruckers.  mabey keep all the trucks and such in one area and others to another.  thats one thing that i think is silly about the hunert car pileup, all the rules, they make sense but still seems like nazis but a show like this would be badass, its a great idea but seems like we are years away from pullin it off. hell we only have two real mags left and we migh not even have that much longer.  looks like i need to head to texmax tho---------------------------------------------I don't know about that. I took my truck to a couple of shows that had mostly older cars and hot rods  was largly ignorned or looked down upon. (Maybe because mine was lower lol)

I would say Pigeon Forge WAS good times. However TEX MEX brings so much more to the table! You bring a West Coast style River Run  and throw it in the MIDDLE of the country where everyone can attend (the weather is usually decent), and add the laid back atmosphere of the old East Coast Runs (Pigeon Forge, Showfest, Slamfest) and you have the makings of a good show!  Now you add an area that can contain everyone without outside interference No Locals, No Police (Except the ones hired) and you have the makings of a Great show!  Add a bunch of Minitruckers to the mix and you have a Sturgis like feel, the only problems with this last part is:    1. Minitruckers have to come to the show to make the numbers!   2. Minitruckers have to have a great time and talk it up so the numbers increase each year!   3. Minitruckers have to get along with each other! (Hummm, this ones kinda hit and miss) Hence the Po Po for what staff can't handle!   4. Minitruckers need to CLEAN there CAMP Site. LOL  The last one just helps the staff after a long week. The staff arrives on Wednesday and is up pretty much around the clock making sure the show is running, everyone is having a great time, everyone is safe, and abiding by the minimal rules set in place. I am personally looking forward to this show! I mentioned before in the numerous other topics on Tex Mex that this reminds me of our old school shows. No B.S. just a good time. Everyone needs to make it to this show at least once and you will want to continue coming back year after year. So now go and look into what it will take for you to get here, via plane (fly into Bush not Hobby) or truck! Hope to see you all there!
