Any details on the plans for the engine? Still keeping the peanut ports?

Not real sure, yet. When I get it to the shop on Saturday, the guy's gonna pull the pan and heads and take a look at the internals. I'll probably pick up a matched cam and intake manifold and maybe a carb if there's any extra $$$ available.

We'll likely keep the stock heads...partly because of $$$ and partly because of having to deal with CA emissions laws.

Went at it again today...

Figured stripping the front clip, motor, trans and harness was the hard part, so I may as well strip the rest and paint the frame.

Had to lift up on the bed some to disconnect the fuel fill lines-

Rolled the frame out of the way-

Picked up a few inexpensive mini-furniture dollies from Harbor Freight. They work great for this application-

I never thought of using those dolles like that it be a lot easier then picking up shopping carts and cutting the baskets off
on a side note you might want to block up your bed so its not resting on the sides like it is cause over time your sides will start to roll under and you'll be pissed when your body man dicks around for a few hours on something you could of prevented

I tell you what, those dollies were cheap ($12.00 ea) and they make it significantly easier. They look like they will cradle a wheel nicely, too. BAM! Wheel dollies to roll your sled around on. They're rated for 1,000 lbs ea, so they'd be a little light for a fully-dress dually, but I figure they'll support a rolling chassis easy enough.

Pig-I see what you mean about the bed sides. I'll block it up when I get home tonight. Thanks for the heads up.

yeah my bedsides were rolled under when we started messin with my bed the other day because it been sittin flat for 4 or 5 months so yeah block it up if you can

wow i turn my back for a couple of days and the donortruck looks more complete than the "daily driver"

a set of bigger port heads on that big block would make more power than any other mod just dont go overboard and loose all power low down
maibe looking at racejunk.com /graigs or sumtin simulair , sumtimes the rebuildshops sell rebuild heads cheaply because there overstock or customers never colect them , the stock rectangulair or oval port heads should do ok in a smogtest and will be an improvement on the peanutheads might even safe you some cash over rebuilding youre own heads

.....new SET of aloy pro comp heads with stainless valves cromemolly retainers and springs installed 875 dollar ok rebuilding is cheaper but still

What are your plans for the old fron clip? Im still interested in doing to opposite of what you did to mine. Old front end on newer cab. And all your sheetmetal looks like its in really good shape.

I'll eventually sell it. It's in great shape. The hood is decent, too.
