Well I worked my ever living ass off for the last 2 days.. SO I get it done enough to drive it to ///RA.. I leave my chassis guys shop.. Make it 10 miles down the road and the fucking thing caught on fire. The wires that run to my aux fuel pump grounded out somehow. I popped the hood and had flames running up the firewall. I got it out before it did any major damage though thank god. It burnt my main air ride wire (switches, gauges) My trailer brake wires, The control wires to my gear vendor, The power wire to my MSD, and yada yada. So fuck it. I'm not going to drive this fucking thing to memphis in the morning. I can get it all fixed but I won;t have an OD.. So I know when to bow to defeat. It has finally beaten me.

Here's a pic

whats up ben found this over on ssm

K so I finally get my 88 Crewcab dually laid out on my 24's and head to my house with it for a test drive and somehow my aux fuel pump wire shorted out and caught on fire. Burning up my gearvendor control wires, trailer brake wires, main supply wire for my vales, digital gauges, and it blew the fusable link that supplies all the power to the ignition and everything else... I can't win for loosing! But hey.. I've got a squarebody crew cab dually that lays out hard on 6 24's. Just gotta do some repairs to the wireing tomorrow because I'm gonna drive this damn thing more than 10 miles before the weekend is up... Sorry.. Just had to vent.

sounds like a shady deal to me

Well it runs again.. Doesn't have a spedo, coolant temp gauge or OD.. But it runs and drives again.. Still burning hella rich but I'm thinking I may have a vac leak or a burned out sensor. Gonna try and get it on a scanner tuesday and maybe it'll tell me what the deal is. There's no cel.. So god only knows what it is.. I'm gettin really close to just putting a speed demon on the damn thing and pulling off the injection...lol

Your truck should have a coolant temp sensor on the side of the head.

If this sensor is dead or corroded up the FI will think the motor's dead cold and keep it in open loop IE full rich.

If it's even kinda halfway working the motor will idle pretty high when it's cold, then slow down a little after a bit when the cold-start circuit turns off.

The sensor is pretty cheap and might be a good place to start. Pre-OBD1 vehicles (before about '93 or '94) usually don't throw a CEL unless something is really seriously wrong and sometimes not even then.
