Its 13th street... or junge. Turn west and about a half mile down the road on the right (north) youll see a HVAC business. Im just behind them, theres a green taho that sits out front. I should be there later on today, swing by.

That makes a little more sense and is actually awesome for me. I live about a mile down Junge from your shop. I live right up the road from the stadium. I'll swing by today and see if I can catch ya. Thanks man

I made it outside today to get a little work done while my girlfriend and son were at a birthday. I finally quit putting it and attempted to mount my York on the cummins. I've been putting it off, I think I was just trying to rely the inevitable that it wouldn't fit and I was right. There's just not enough room. It's either keep the intercooler piping or run the York and the performance gains of the intercooler far out wiegh the York. So back to the drawing board on a compressor. I guess I'm just gunna have to do what I didn't want to have to do and run electrics. I'm really not a huge fan of them but I'm just going to have to like on this truck I guess. After that I was aggravated and running out of time to work so just went back to the trans tunnel. I got about the front half of the driveshaft tunnel cut out and shaped but not enough time to weld it in. I also got the carrier bearing cross member cut out. Just need to get it tacked in and bolt the bearing down.
Any good recommendations on a compressor to fill about 8-10 gallons of storage that won't cost me a crazy amount?? I'm a poor boy and need a cheap compressor. It really won't be taxes to much. Just enough for ride hieght a few times a day and the occasional stop light and dragging fun. I may even add an extra compressor later when I get more cash flow.
Also it looks like I have a good working, double V belt, York 209 in good condition with the factory steel mounting plate still bolted to it if anyone wants to buy one.

Ah that sucks! I really dislike the annoying buzz of the electric compressors myself.

I prefer air zenith ob2 compressors they aren't very loud and put out more air than 2 480s

So I was thinking today about my compressor situation. I started wondering why I couldn't mount my York in my bed and run it on a DC motor. I started looking at electric DC motors and I can get one for about what I'll pay for a single air zenith. It seems like the York would fill a lot faster even on a dc motor. What kind of horsepower rating would the electric motor need to have?? It really doesn't take a lot of force to turn a York by hand so I wouldn't think it would need to be to big. Maybe a half horse?? Also what kind of RPM would the motor need to be?? I think a lot of rpm could be adjusted with different motor pulleys. Any advice??

DO NOT DO THAT!

I got a dually me and a buddy are rebuilding and it has that exact setup in the bed and it sucks ass. Alot of the electric motors draw so much amperage they will kill the battery in no time, including ours. My 2 cents is viair 444s, theyre the same CFM as 480s but draw less amps and are $70 cheaper.

If your stuck on making an elecrtic motor for your york, find out what oasis uses. A direct drive setup would be better than using the clutch and belts by saving that extra rotating mass and you dont need the clutch with an electric motor anyways. I believe they use a winch motor or one similar to one on a hydro pump. Would have to be built for continuous duty, unlike a starter motor than is made for short bursts.

Thanks for the heads up GBD.
It seemed like a lot of work but It would be nice to keep that air recovery of a York. I looked at the viair compressors and I'm really not to impressed with the cfm they move. One of their dual packs of compressors only moved something like 1.83cfm between the both of them. It would take so long to recover any air.
I know most people don't like AIM industries but I've always had really good luck with their air ride parts. I used to have a DC7500 I got from them and it was a beast. I ran that thing on a toggle switch for a long time. I forgot to turn it off one day on a road trip and it ran for about an hour at 200 psi and didn't hurt it a bit. That thing was still in the truck when I sold it a year later still working great. I'll probably just run 2 of the DC-7500's. They move 4cfm of air per compressor. 8 cfm should be enough to keep my 8-10 gallon tanks full. Not ideal but it'll work.

I went and had a chat with a local diesel builder today. He's about the only local guy I trust to work on my engine other than myself. He had a 12 valve Cummins with some crazy mods done to it and a huge T4 flanged turbo. He was cruising down the interstate when something internally let go. Most likely the came since it came out in 4 pieces but the end result was a rod hanging out the side of the block.
Now that his engine is down the good parts are up for grabs. He said he would sell me his like new after market injectors, install them, and time my pump to about 18 degrees and help me get my new 14 cm turbo housing on all for $100. Seems like a killer deal to me. All he wants in return is my stock injectors for a spare set for another one of his trucks. Hopefully I can get him to do all of that in the next couple of weeks. I'm sure it'll cost me some fab work and knowledge later since he's got a 1985 square body awaiting a cummins swap but I still think that's a killer deal.
