Thanks a lot man!! The compliments help keep me motivated and it means a lot coming from other truck guys.
They used this color some of the Nissan 350z's. I put quite a bit of extra pearl in it when I mixed it so it should have a decent flop to it.

it kinda reminds me of the color yamaha used to paint all their dirtbike and sport quad frames cant wait to see what you come up with on paint scheme......how far out are you from tear down for paint?

As soon as I set the cab back on after I get the frame coated I'm going to get the interior and probably the jambs. As for the outside I want to get it all back together and get a few miles put on it before I paint it. I'd hate to paint it and get it all looking great for something to break on the first drive that should have been obvious to me and mess it up. We'll see how it all works out though.

Well my taxes should be in any day now. As soon as I get that check I'm going to go get the rest of the brackets I need and get the truck moved back to the garage for the final tear down.
I never have been able to find the U joint I need for my gear box. It's a real funky spline with a flat spot on it. So for now I made a shaft just to load the truck and be able to move it around the shop. I wouldn't trust it actually driving the truck but it'll work temporarily while I'm working on it.
I cut apart the stock shaft and welded in 3 swivels or knuckles which ever you want to call them from a 1/2" and 3/8" socket sets I had laying around. I used a solid piece of round stock off of the rag joint and put a sealed bearing on it. Ill clamp the bearing to a piece ill tack off of the frame and I should have a decent steering shaft to get through the rest of fabrication and assembly.

For anyone else that may read this in the future I've done some more research on the steering shafts in the these trucks. From what I've found a GM truck with a power steering gear box is the same from 1976+.
I have also found that a jeep Cherokee XJ steering shaft is basically a drop in and go steering shaft in these old trucks as long as their not body dropped of course. Doing that swap will get rid of your rag joint and it runs a U joint at both ends to get rid of any slop or play. You'll get some extra vibrations the rag joint absorbed though.
1995+ S10 trucks also use the same joint at the gear box and some 1982-1992 camaros and firebirds also used the same spline count joint.
The actual joint is a 3/4" 30 spline at the gear box. I've not got mine ordered yet but from everything I can find on all of the manufacturer websites that's the correct U joint. I'm going to be ordering mine any day and ill of course let everyone know how it works.

I got the temporary steering shaft installed tonight. My tax check should be in any day now so I can get the truck tore down. The bed is loaded on the trailer to be delivered to my school. While at the school we'll get the Dually fenders raised a few inches and get the floor done. Not sure yet if ill raise the stock floor to the top of the bed rails or build a sheet metal bed floor. Any thoughts or opinions on which type of bed floor to use?? My stock Dually fenders have some battle scars someone has messed up with some shitty repairs over the years. I'm going to have to try and repair all of that before I can raise them any.
The homemade shaft installed until I can get the correct U joints. I slide a sealed bearing on the shaft the hold it and keep it from binding. I used a piece of flat stock attached to an old exhaust clamp around the bearing to hold it.

Hey what's happening man. Truck is looking awesome as usual.

It's been a while since I've been on. School, work, and my son have been keeping me wayyyy busier than I want to be.

I didn't install the york yet. When I bought it I had ordered my parts from SD to to the front. Well...2 months later...they never came, so I cancelled the order and putting work on the truck on hold til I finish school next July. It's going to be a long bumpy road. Not to hijack your thread. Just replying to your post.

keep up the work!! hard work comes with a reward!!

Well we've had about 4"-6" of just pure freezing rain over the last 24 hours. I went outside to finish getting my truck ready to move today. Just tightening up all of the body panels to make the trip and boxing up and throwing all of the parts into the cab.
It was almost like something out of a movie. I walked outside and was standing about 15' from my truck when the entire canopy that's been covering the Dually for about the last year came crashing down with about 500 pounds of ice smashing right on top of the truck. I'm going to try and get it moved off of it tomorrow and assess the damage. Hopefully it didn't tear to much up but that's a lot of weight coming down on sheet metal that was loosely bolted on.
