I want to say thanks to everyone who is building their rides and posting all their work on this forum. You guys really help keep me going. It has saved me a ton of time looking through all the projects and seeing what works and what to avoid. Plus all of you are so helpful when I have run into issues and need some guidance.

I want to have this truck finished over the winter and ready by early spring (budget, wife, and job permitting).

Yeah I am a picture nut, I admit it!! But they are my best point of reference. You need to come by when you make your trip down this way. Hopefully by then I will have my ride rolling down the road by that point.

OK I got the notches welded up tonight. When I got in the shop it was cold! By the time I left after all that welding it was a lot warmer... I would give myself a B+ on the welds. I was mostly interested in getting really good penetration, and not making just pretty welds. In the end I was satisified.

Tomorrow after work I will plate the joints and do some finish grinding. I will take some pictures of both notches and post them after I am done.

Tonight I got the spring perches welded up on the rear end. I also cut out all the plates for the notches cut out and tacked to the notches. Then once i got ready to do the finish welding on them I ran out of welding wire! Murphy's law hates me!!

I also got the watts link in today. That thing is cool looking, and is built like a tank! Now all I have to do is fab up the mounts and build the attachment bars.

Stay tuned...

Picked up a tail gate yesterday in Amarillo. $25! It was in pretty good shape. It needs some minor bodywork, and to be stripped of the old paint. Other than that is was quite a find.

Got back tonight from our Thanksgiving trip and after everyone was happy and settled I went to the shop and did the finish welding on the notches. I still have to do some finish grinding, but they are for the most part ready to get installed.

I also started to make the brackets for the watts link. I got the main bar cut out tonight, and tomorrow I will start on the rest of the brackets. Below is a picture of the heim joints I ordered. I got 2 sets so I can complete the watts link. Just need to buy the tubing to finish the whole job.

I also ordered my adapters! Man those are expensive!! Can't wait to see them!

Thanks man! My wallet has been bleeding a lot of cash lately! But I am starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel...

I always start any project I do with a spread sheet of all the items i need to tackle and all the costs. Sounds like a bunch of overkill, but you would be surprised how it keeps me on track as to what I have to do next. It can also scare the heck out of me on how much all this stuff costs!!! I won't start a project (and I have done tons of them over the years) if I know that I won't be able to finish it.

My dad always taught us to be self sufficient and do it our selves if at all possible. That is why I never have had a problem buying tools and learning how to do things on my own. I just enjoy working in the shop and making my rides my way.
