In most states(do not know about Canada) there are rules about distance from the ground to bottom of the bumper and distance from ground to the center of the headlites. These are safety rules to protect u and other drivers in case of an accident. The lite rules are to be sure u can see and be seen at nite. There are aldo rules on decibels of sound ur ride can produce, and there is a rule about location of the filler neck for ur tank.If I am not mistaken it must have a secure opening external to the main part of the vehicle, again for safety. Most of these "rules" are treated with a good deal of leeway unless u r acting like an a--hole at which point most officers will tag u with any and all violations just to make a point.Drive safely and most of them will leave u alone-remember they were kids once too.Lol.BJ

for ontario, air ride is legal, as long as you still have the proper safety parts inplace such as sway bars and what not, from what i learned in school there is no bumper height regulations, you must have a plate on the front bumper and rear bumper(or tailgate) and the rear must have a light on it, as for lights, the tail lights must glow red in colour, along with brake lights, rear signal lights must glow in the colours red, or amber, and front signal and marker lights must be amber

You can shave the tailgate, no problem...and bodydropping too is not a problem unless you get rid of some safety device in the process....I will get pics of my handles when the light is better....

And yes your fule filler has to external to the main vehicle body, and I do believe that in the bed might be illegal, not 100 percent sure.

im prettysure its ok in the bed aslong as the filler neck is secured the the body properly aswell as the fuel cell or tank

Sounds like the DOT in Canada can be a real pain in the @$$! Of course, some of the local laws in the states can be pretty strict. Rock Island, Illinois has a law against loud stereos.... 70' is the written limit. If the officer can here you stereo beyond that you get a ticket. Second offense and your ride goes to the impound lot! Gravity5 - curious what you find out about the filler in the bed. My current project has a hinged door in the bed with the tank filler directly below that.

yeah really,if it's not stock,it's a rolling ticket because you're a street racing ricer with a riced up pickup truck....

...or so that's their mentality.

I've had no rear plate lights (plate and reg sticker invisible/hard to read at night) ,coloured or tinted plate covers (illegal in Ontario),blue turn signals (flashing blue is imitating a snow removal vehicle),blue reverse lights, smoked tail lights, blue underglow, excessively dark window tint (front windows), excessively loud stereo (noise pollution), excessivly loud exhaust (noise pollution) aaaaaand...I think that's it.

Only thing I ever got nailed for was having my front plate mounted in the bottom corner of my windshield because it wasn't mounted on the bumper like the law says and the cop said it's a safety hazard, like if I got in an accident,it could come loose and fly back and cut me or something.

I used to get pulled over all the time with the cops just wanting to check the registration and insurance on my cars and stuff. It got pretty annoying.

yeh, I dont want to have an issue with my conciense cuz of some illegal add on to my truck or whatever, I dont want to drive something unsafe either. And I sure dont want to put anyone else at risk in the process. I dont even plan on dragging, thats just begging for problems, this is a small town I dont think anyone could get away with it. Unless yer the premier, then you could be drunk at the same time, lol.
This truck is a daily driver in the summer and I want to have fun with it and I want it to be reliable. I have to obey the law, its just not optional for me.
Thanx everyone for your input.

I do believe that is not legal for canadian officers to do...unless you have doen something wrong, or there is reason to believe that you have.

down here in florida they dont have inspections which is cool but on the other hand they leave the inspections up to the police. the police have the right down here to deam your ride safe or unsafe and if deemed unsafe it gets towed and you have to get it put back to stock
its sucks but there are ways around the law
you just have to know the right people
