If anything Mike, it might be slightly narrower, if memory serves me right, the trucks is 58.5", and the rx's is @ 58 - 58.25", so not a significant amount....as far as bolting up, no it isn't a direct swap, it has link tabs, and coil spring perches (which would work nicely for a bag setup) but with leaf springs, I had to cut that stuff off, and weld on leaf spring perches, and the mounts for shocks & my sway bar....on the brakes, I took the line off the trucks rear, put an inline tee on the passenger side next to the round xmember on the frame and ran it across to the other side, used one braided line from the tee to the passenger side caliper, and from where the hard line ended on the drivers side a braided line to the driver's side caliper....now the calipers are capable of using e-brakes (which is nice) but I still have to get some new lines made, or have the ends of mine adapted to fit the caliper ends.

**edit, I forgot you asked about mounting to the driveshaft, all you have to do is take the pinion flange off of the truck, and swap it with the one on the rx's rear & torque to spec...the rx's has a smaller bolt pattern, but could be redrilled to work on the trucks driveshaft....also the chunks or carriers if you prefer will interchange, but if you use the trucks, you have to make a clearance notch inside the rx housing as the trucks carrier has a special gear on the backside of the ring for the abs speed sensor, other than that they will interchange, and If I'm not mistaken, you could swap the 3.91 ring gears from the trucks to the rx's if you don't like it's 4.07 gear ratio, or any of these other R&P's from the list below
3.58 (solomiata's aol page is down, so I don't have his gear chart, but these came in the early 80's 323 or 626) don't have a mazda part # for the ring & pinion, sorry
3.909 No Longer Available (not sure if that's true, as these are the ones that came in our trucks)
these others are referenced from mazdatrix's site, they still sell the ones listed below.
4.10 mazdatrix p/n 27-110B-M068
4.444 mazdatrix p/n 27-110A-M054
4.875 mazdatrix p/n 27-110A-1312
5.125 mazdatrix p/n 27-1100-1480
You can also get a Kaaz Performance LSD unit from from them if you got like a grand, or a little cheaper, or you can get the clutches & springs to rebuild the OEM units....

Thanks for the compliments, just ready for it to be on the road!!

As promised guys, I went by my welders shop today & did a prelim fitup of the carbs on the first intake, and took a couple pics for everyone's enjoyment....he said he should be able to have the first one complete a couple weeks after Thanksgiving....

From the side, you can see the small tube, it is for the coolant from the head to the hot side of the heater core

Now that is what I call SEXY!!!! Man I wish I had the abilities to run something like that on my truck but I'm afraid a relatively stock motor won't exactly live up to what those should be bolted to. Can hardly wait to see them bolted up to you motor and hear a good sound bite.

Question, for some reason I was under the impression that 2 of the 3 holes were for coolant and the other one was for the EGR passage. Could be wrong though. Also, was wondering about the small holes/ports on the intake runners? Does the aluminum bar with brass fittings to the right in the first pic tie into those ports?

Thanks Linn! Don't be afraid, the nice thing about these mani's is you can get some throttle bodies with the same base dimensions as the dcoe's, so if carb's aren't your style, you can get the TB's, and a stand alone ecu, and tune it to the motor....alittle more pricy than the carbs, but would be the cats meow so to speak as far as having the best of both world, looks & reliability!!

They still isn't complete so some of the pics it may look a little rough around the edges so to speak, but once he gets everything welded together, I'm gonna get my machinist bud to plain both flanges so they are nice & true, then I'll poslish it up a tad, and put a coat of high temp clear on it to keep it from tarnishing....

To answer your first question, all three are coolant passages, the egr valve on the end of the stock manifold just inject unused fuel gasses from the exhaust into the air/fuel stream to be recycled thru the combusion cycle all over again...

Now for the second question (very observant I might add) yes the little bar (small vaccum log) with the 1/8"npt hose barbs goes with the mani, but not to the holes on top of the runners. If you'll look @ the 3rd pic down, you'll notice, the # 3 inbetween two lines on the bottom of the carb flange along with 4ea 1/8"holes directly under each runner orfice (these 4 holes will have 1/8" hose barbs in them too), the vac log mounts to 3 kickers that will be positioned where the # 3 is between the lines (if you look in pic two imagine that log canted back toward the coolant log under the carbs following the same plain as the carb flange, I have some nice red silicon vac lines to hook inbetween the ports in the flange, and the ones on the vac log, and then one off it goes to the vac advance on the dizzy......now for the holes on the top of the runners, there is another "larger" vac log, it will sit on one kicker on top of each of the runners, it has 5/8" npt hose barbs on either end, one will hook to the brake booster, and the other to the pcv valve on the head....once he gets those other two vac logs on, I'll carry it over to the engine shop (They should have the top end buttoned up by that time @ 2 weeks) and will try to position a mount for the throttle & choke cables & that should be it on the first one other than the trueing of the flanges, polishing & clear high temp paint, then he has one more to put together. The one in these pics has 4" runners, the next one will have 5" runners, which will have a slight difference in the power band.....

NYTRDR24 - guess I was remembering the following with regard to coolant passages:

nytryder, you have got to let me come check this thing out in person.

We'll get together 4sure! Fingers crossed, I may have the engine & at least one intake for christmas...
(I guess I'm kinda like a rennaisance painter, I'd prefer no one see it until it is done [well at least running] it'll still be a bit before I can afford a paint job, but I can live with function, the purdy will have to wait)
