as promised pics of the grille & bumper installed, I think I put too many coats of the "smoke" on the grille & bumper as the door & tailgate handles turned out better...still not too bad...

also a pic of the radiator where I mounted the twin flex-a-lite fans and made an aluminum shroud...

dropped off my aluminum plate & stuff last thursday at my bud's machine shop, he just called & he has the first head flange & carb flange cut out, so I'm going to pick them up and will get a pic of them this afternoon...gonna carry the head flange by the machine shop for a test fit & to make sure all the holes line up, will do the same for the carb flange.....might have the intakes welded up by the end of the week! whoo-hoo!! one step closer to the beast roaring!

a stillen front spoiler.....I know, I know....not to mention the pic makes it look worse than it is, still needs moulding in, but will look good once it and the rest of the body work is done & the truck is painted...for reference check out the red '87 d-50 in the august issue of m/t

thanks c/m, they turned out pretty good, the pics really don't do it much justice and as I said prolly woulda turned out better if i'd only put one or two coats on

checked out the flanges that I got from my bud's machine shop, they'll work, but I didn't get a chance to snap any pics as it was too late once I got home from the engine shop...will post a couple up of them tomorrow with another goodie that I picked up today...

looking damn good bro. i know you aren't going to bag it but are you going to drop it? seems really tall. you have been working on this engine for a while. i can't wait until you finally get it going. gonna be a sweet day for sure!

thx bro, it's lowered, got 3" belltech leafs in the rear, and the 3' djm control arms in the front, re-indexed t-bars, and a set of qa1 coilovers in the rear, along with belltech sway bars front & rear too....it is sitting a little taller in the front because there isn't an engine in it yet, same with the rear, no fuel in the fuel cell...not to mention the 18" motegi's with a 40 series tire are 26" or so tall (didn't want to throw the speedo off too much, but you can buy a speedo gear from mazda to correct it) I did get my pop's to stand on the front x-member and put some other misc weight in there to get it close to the weight of the motor & fluids (when I shipped the engine to be cryo treated, it and the crate came to 300 lbs) and I adjusted the t-bars to where the front will sit right on top of the tires to have a nice raked look, as for the rear, I just put the coil overs on, and haven't set the springs up yet as I haven't had any fuel in the cell to know how that extra weight is going to affect the ride height other than making it sit lower, so once the engine gets in, I'll fill the cell, and adjust both the coil overs in the rear & t-bars up front till I get that nice hot rod raked look....once I get a little more money, I'm gonna put a set of coil overs up front, and loose the t-bars, and will also make a link & tab to go on the lower control arm (like is on that black yota in the sept issue of m/t), so I can get rid of the stabalizer bar that runs from the control arm up to the front frame rail (it is interfering with the belltech sway bar up front when I have the truck on the jack stands, and the suspension is at full extension, the sway bar, and the strut rod rub just ever so slightly...)

as promised here is a pic of the head & carb flanges for my intake

my bud should be done cutting all the metal by the end of the week, then the head flanges will go the the machine shop that way they can port match it to the head intake runners (just needs a little massaging) then I'll carry the intake parts to be tig welded...about a week I'd say & I'll have two complete intakes, one with 4" runners, one with 5" runners, once the motor is in & running I'm gonna carry it & see which intake I get the best #'s from on a dyno.

while on the way to the engine shop to test fit the head flange yesterday, I stopped by the local yard, and came across a couple items that I've been wanting, a 2600 hood with not a dent one in it, just needs sanding & a coat of primer to match the rest of the truck, and I needed a bracket for my passenger bucket seat (they wouldn't sell just the bracket, so I had to get both seats, in good shape, with two little tears in the drivers side seat, I'd be willing to sell the seats if any one close to huntsville alabama wants them cause it would cost a small fortune to ship them...) got both the hood and seats for a bill, not too bad of a deal!

skeet, skeet, just got back from my bud's machine shop with the pieces for the intake(s), too bad the welder is going out of town this wednesday for a vacation & won't be back till sept 8th...

Here is a crappy cell phone pic of the carb flange mounted to the carbs, with the runners stacked on top, and the other carb flange sitting on top (I dropped off the head flange at the engine shop so that they could do a little touch up port matching) just so ya can get an idea of what it will look like all tig'd up....
