I figured there could possibly be bad fuel still in the filter. I got some octane boost, and some Seafoam.... Bleh.

I too hate engines, their issues, and working on them.

Man,,,get a new motor, lol. thats the sign for it.

the engine is basically new lol

Yeah, its a brand new rebuild with about 5K miles on it now.

The fuel cutoff solenoid has power with Ignition ON position. I disconnected it and it didn't really make much of a difference, but it made the exhaust smell much worse. Like a sharp burning smell that stings the nose.

I replaced my fuel filter too, old one was nasty, but it made no difference either.

And heres the black shit coming out of the pipe. The small dark patch is the freshest as I moved my truck back a foot.

I also ran it out of a gas can, to see if there where any issues between the tank and carb, but that also didn't make any difference.

I'm trying to find a video camera to use so I can better record whats actually happening.

Man my truck does the same thing. I have replaced everything. My motor is rebuilt. Mine doesn't run rough though. I have a huge black spot in my garage.

On my rebuilt engine, I had the same thing happen to me as well. Well, except for the miss. lol...

I have'nt read the whole thread throughly, but I would suggest making sure that your spark plug wires are on all the way. lol.. Believe me, if you did'nt make sure, you will beat yourself up for a while wondering why it was so simple!

Put your finger in that mess on the ground and smell it. If it smells like gas, you got a problem.

If it don't smell it is more than likely water... But the black is definitely carbon. By the exhaust, I can tell you that you are running too rich, or an ignition problem.

Now, since you have a miss, it must be the latter of my opinion. Do yourself a favor, I dunno if you have done this yet, but, take a cup of water, and pour a little by little directly into the carb intake. Let your truck warm up all the way first.

Since the intake manifold is hot enough to boil water, once it hits the intake it will vaporize into steam and run with the fuel mix. This water will actually clean off all your valves, cylinder, piston heads, exhaust, etc. Removing all the carbon!

Do not pour the water in their so much it kills it! If it starts puttering, kick up the throttle until you burn off the water. Once you have about 3-4 oz. burned through it, you should be good to go! You should see that same type of black stuff out of your exhaust with this.

Let us know if that does'nt work!
