Why do i not feel that the rear is gonna be very solid this way? Once all is tight does it keep the rear from going side to side? Not feeling so comfortable without a panhard but there are tons of trucks running this right?

Thats all we got today, had some running around to do. Had to find a place to bend up the upper bag brackets and get a bottle of argon for the welder. Plus i had to make all the 4 link stuff wich took allot of time. Then square the rear and get a static pinion angle. I go pick up the bends for the upper bags in the morning then i have lots of welding to do,finish the notch and weld all the brackets in.

This has been great to do with my son at times he doesnt have the drive to keep going like i do but he goes out on his own to work on it. I know the closer we get to finishing i wont be able to keep him out of there Short story when my boys were younger i was racing stock cars (Camaro) had the rear on stands most the winter with the axles out putting new hubs and what not, so it was a open hole season came around slid the axles back in and went racing after that season (20 or so races) i changed car type and that one sat till about 2 years later i sold the 9" rear out of it. About 2 weeks later the guy i sold it to stopped buy and asked me to look at somthing...there sat a 3/8 extension 12" long a 3" 3/8 extention with a socket on it. He didnt say anything while i looked the scratched up tools over...so i ask were did they come from, he said they were in that rear i sold him. The kids must have slid them in there when they were out "helping" They were about 3 and 6 at the time. Funny thing was i wondered what happend to my long extention lol

That looks good. You wont need a panhard bar, because the upper bars being triangulated keep the axle from moving side to side. Once you have everything welded up there will be little to no side to side movement.

that's to funny man.

with a triangular 4 link there is now need for a panhard bar. the rear won't move side to side when done right. and yours looks good. it is hard to get motivated sometimes but once i get started it is hard to stop until late into the morning. haha.

That is pretty funny. Yeah I have the same motivation issue.

rear end looks great but try and move your lower bars out abit more you will find it will give you a better ride and stability.

Just for some piece of mind, stop by your local parts store and take a look at the Hanes repair manual for say 70s thru 80s mid to full size Chevy sedan with coil spring rear. You will find the trianglated 4 link has been around for years. Only difference is your setup is using round bars and theirs has stamped sheet metal bars.

Thanks Immortal1 That really gave me peice of mind ...now that i think about it the midsize gm cars were all that way Plus the more i think about it leafs have some lateral movement also.

I allready welded the lower bars and i made them so he could go bag on bars later if he wants that why they are in so far. I will be spending some time with the rear shocks and running a good gas shock to help the ride. Thanks for all the input it all helps I have forced air heat in my garage because i hate the cold so i keep it about 70 out there makes it real easy to work with snow on the ground...plus i need to get this done to get my racecar in for its winter work Thanks, Craig
