I bought this thing new in '87, lowered it and cut off the roof the next summer. Then it was in a horrible drunken fireworks mishap in '92 that burnt it from the fire wall back, 3 weeks after it was painted. Rebuilt it then, and this is then.

Not long after that, I dam near had a heart attack when I saw it on the cover of Truckin'. nice

Then, it just sat. Under a cover for a while, then in the garage, for the next 13 years. I then decided that I was gonna rebuild the carb, and drive it some more.

I changed my mind. I'm gonna do a v8, and a 4-link, and all kind of silly stuff.

So, right now, I'm laying out the exhaust. Here's some pics of my progress.

The plan is flat black on the body, with 3" cut off the top of the glass, phantom grille, cando caddy tail lights. I bought a b2600 last year off ebay, so I have all 4x4 sheet metal. I have the wheels(will be painted red) and tires(wide whites). 185/70/15 on 15x6 front, 255/70/15 on 15x8 rear.

The engine is gonna be a basic 350 short block, aluminum heads, Thumper cam, and some sort of tri-power, BG six shooter or something like that. I'm running the full 3" dual through flowmaster super 44's.

That Thumper cam is the root of all this madness. Once I heard an audio clip of an engine running that cam, I had to have it.

I thought I was the only guy working on a mazda....

thanks

Right on man. Good to see all of the old covnverts didn't go to the crusher. I totally remember that Truckin' mag. I can't wait to see what you do to it now. Your plans sound great.
