OK, so here is the start to my project. I'm not much of a talker but will try and keep everyone informed to with what I'm doing. comments, concerns, questions or criticism are all welcome.

once I'm done getting the frame prepped ill be ordering the c notch kit and welding that in along with adding re enforced cross members to support the tilt bed and 4-link kit that I will be installing with the future air bag system.

just a couple random pics of some body panels that I have sanded down and got in primer. (when I got the truck it had been spray painted baby blue over the stock red... they ran out of paint half way through .... not a pretty sight lol) the redish color on them is from dust floating around my garage

The last pic looks better than the first pic..................J/K

It looks like it's on it's way, so what's your plans for it? Bags, static, Bd, etc.?

planning on doing a bag system on it.

Here are some templates that I made up to re enforce the rear of the frame so when I do the tilt bed it will support it more securely. I should have these cut out of 12 gauge sheet metal and welded in by the end of the weekend.

I also decided to start to strip more of the body off the truck to get the rest of it in primer while waiting to order the frame notch kit and get the structural steel to build the 4 link cross member and I found a rust hole....

right on man, got a pretty good start on it

the typical rust hole in the kick panels, its all to common here in canada, that the first thing i look for and the floors too

but thats an easy patch job

Looks like you got a good start and a full plan on this. cant wait to see more progress.

OK so the templates are with my dad and he will be making them up for me Monday or Tuesday. and instead of waiting for that to do anything I headed to the front of the truck and started to disassemble some of the engine bay so that I can lift the body off the frame and get to the front of the frame and clean it up and prep it. so here is a couple pics of the engine bay.

and some of the labels that so that reassembly should be easier.

Does anyone have any good pics of exactly how much needs to get cut out of the front wheel wells for good clearance when fully dropped... does part of the fire wall have to get cut and re welded in??? just wondering, Ive been looking around a lot and can only seem to find pics of the engine bay part of the wheel well but cant tell what else is modified. thanks

we jus got finished with my front last week... I plan on running 18's at the biggest, so i measured and the 14" stock wheel/tire are as tall as the 18 that i will be running( i think they 35's) but the way I did mine was bag the front... then set the truck down off the stands and we cut out the Drivers side, lowered it and made sure it was good... then repeat on passenger side...

We didn't have to cut into the firewall at all. Just followed around the stock wheel well and cut maybe an inch or two above where it curved and met with the fender support. and when cutting the side next the firewall you will see where it was welded from the factory, i just followed that line.

OK I'm planning on running 18s at the biggest as well, and was really hoping that I didn't have to cut the fire wall. unfortunately I'm not going to get my bag system until spring, so I'm just trying to do everything that I can until I get the bags and then its just a plug and play sort of thing.
