So I got my parts today, got excited to see what they looked like on the frame.... I know I need to grind off the old paint.... but I like I said I got excited.... this weekends project is to get the notches installed, welded in , and the new rear part of the frame in...my dad will be doing the welding for me ( hes been a welder for over 25 years) so I'm assuming it should be good to go this weekend.... here's some pics for everyone.

AHHH cant wait till sat. morning....it cant come soon enough.... that's when my dad is coming over to help install the notch kit, and new section of rear frame... anyway until then I got some more parts in, and while hes welding the rear section I'll be up front the truck getting the front ready for the bracket kit. here's the parts that came in, ad the LCAs all trimmed up, once I mount them all together and I see how much of the LCA I have to modify to be able to get it to lay frame and both spindles all cleaned up.

BIG UPDATE!!! more pics then I know what to do with.. so ill put just about all them up here with a little something to say about them as I go

So first we put the notches up and got them in to place, made sure they were level and marked out exactly where they go.....

then we cleaned up all the frame where we were going to be tacking them in to place... including a spot in the middle for a temp. cross member...

then we put the temp cross member in to place and gave it a few solid tacks to keep it from allowing the frame to move when we cut the rear section out.....

after all said and done, we put the notches back in to place, with spacers on the tops of the notches to prevent anything from warping when its time to weld everything solid.... again made sure everything was nice and level, welded the spacers in solid and tacked the notches in to place.

nice and pretty huh?? lol

next we tacked the rear parts of the frame together.....

thread post photo

then cut the old frame out and got it out of the way.... got the new sections of the frame in clamped everything together, made sure everything was level and square, and tacked it all together.... we wern't able to get it perfectly square, but got it within 1/8 inch to square.... figured that wasn't to bad seeing as how it was further off then before we cut it apart.

Now i just got to do some more research tonight, and then tomorrow we plan on welding everything together solid including another cross member in the rear on the other side of where the fuel cell is going to go. get the bars on the top in the notch tacked in remove the temp cross member, weld in the bottom of the notch... and so on and so on... but ill up date all that tomorrow... hope this is enough pics for all you pic whores LOL enjoy

I just pm'd ya back but I see ya are doin well I had to find yer thread to see where ya were at in the build.
I just went over yer whole thing, yer doin real well,
One good thing about waiting for parts, is ya have the time to seek out a solid plan.
I do like your collection of levels, and putting them to good use too I see !!

One thing I would say is work it out so ya dont lose any potential lift out back, the re7 does not give ya much so plan it really tight and use the internal bumpstops in the SS bags ya got.

lookin good
keep it up,
god pics too!!

oh and ya said your waitin fer a bridge too so I assumed you are goin bag over axle, only prob again is limited lift that way so yeh plan it out tight like I said dont allow too much play.

go to SSM and read Max Fishs' instant center article, it'll help plan the 4 link set up.

I have the bridge kit... I just wanted to make sure that what I was thinking (exactly what you said in your PM) was the correct way of doing it, because I don't have my bags yet. I did figure that if i had all the correct measurements then I really didn't need the bags and could get it all mocked up.

I did read his article on instant center and about 1000000 other write ups about 4 links, pinion angles, and what not....I downloaded a 4 link calculator and have put in as much info as I could on my own and then used some from an old thread I found in the projects / under construction on page 6. (Slam Specialty(UPDATE: 7-21-08) ) lots of good info on that build.... I played with that a bit and think I got it right where I want it, but I'm ordering my 4 link along with a bunch of other things on Tues. (3-16) so I'll have some time to really work with it to get it spot on.

thanks for the support and advice, it sure does make some of this stuff a lot easier.
