Thanks man.. I just drove there and back.. didn't enter.. was happy my truck made a seven hour trip with no issues.. well one.. Damn throttle is sticking again.. Time for a return spring, I think I saw ten Mazdas with them today..

Well I installed a return spring today.. soo much better.. found another rattle thanks to my buddy and that long drive.. truck is eating oil, I am not leaking much oil.. and I am not having blue smoke.. I am lost.. I suspect valve seals or rings but I just am not sure. anyways. here are couple pics.. I took this first one at the top of a lookout on the way home from the show.. it was amazing..

Looking good where did you find the return spring set up? I bought my carb on ebay a long time ago and didn't come with a return spring or bracket for the throttle cable. I kinda rigged them and it works just not pretty

I bought the return spring kit from advance today.. its a Mr Gasket universal kit.. I bought my carb off ebay.. it was for a tercel.. I took my throttle bracket off my stock carb.. had the machinist at work match the hole for the butterfly shaft.. but it has intermittently stuck.. I would work on it and think I had it fixed then it would happen again.. Driving down to layed out at the park it started again. I had enough.. I cut an allen bolt off.. welded it on the throttle brack.. bolted the universal bracket on the side.. it works great doesnt touch anything.. then I made sure to bend the springs a little extra to try to ensure they are extra hard to fall off..

Well small update, installed the second door popper and wired it up. My carrier bearing came in so I pulled the driveshaft tonight to replace it. Do not own a wrench large enough so I will take it to work and change it tomorrow night. Last night I machined up a replacement nylon slider for the ragtop. I also welded a spot on the rearend trying to stop that leak.. it's driving me bonkers..

Engine is burning oil I guess about a quart every tank..I don't see any smoke but it's definitely not leaking that much.. any guesses? Valve seals? I don't think rings my plugs are clean, it runs really well too. honestly I am stumped.

Another boring update nothing cool done. Got the carrier bearing that was pia.. found my leak is the front seal on the trans, called my brother he is a gm mechanic, he suggested give it a bottle of Lucas before I pulled the trans.. seems to have fixed it..! Now I was talking to him about the oil issue, he said try a new pcv valve.. he has seen this problem caused by them being bad. Replaced that today, going to cross my fingers and see.

Biggest thing is I might be trading it for an astro van.. always liked them and my whole family can ride in it.. still mulling it over, dig my truck but hate telling my boys only one can ride with dad..
