Yes, I was going to do it that same way as you did Sin, but when I got to the AC shop, I just let the guy go ahead and do it as my back has been really acting up lately.

I did a mock up today, and am glad the AC guy didn't put the service port in, but rather let me cut the hose, and mark where they needed to be.

I have to take them back to him Monday to crimp the service ports in interminably to the hose.

Oh, and it was two ft short on the suction side so I will have to get him to fix that as well.

I had this info saved on MT, but now thats gone.

How much mineral oil do I need in each AC component before I charge it up?

I've already got the compressor filled, but need to know how much to put in the condenser, and accumulator, plus the 16ft of AC hose.

2 oz. plus the amount measured during removal for each component.
... and maybe another ounce and a half for the hose run.

Well, I like most things on this truck the AC proved to be about par for the course.

I got the hose's back, and marked them where the service ports should go.

Then took them waaaay across town to the place that made them to have the hoses crimped to the service ports {sp from here on out}.

I also needed about two more feet as I was a little short on my measurements.

I got the hoses back, took them home, and bam, the service port on the high side was now under the front wheel well. %#$%#$.

I also had one of the hoses a bit tight going to the accumulator so I took it back as well.

Now I finally got the service port right, but the AC guy said to bring the whole accumulator so he could get the right threads as the old threads might be messed up %$^@#$%!#$%!.

Well, I had no intention of pulling the whole accumulator so I got some thin lub, and put on the threads, and got the hose in a tight.

I hooked my set of gauges up to the sp's and then into my trusty AC vacuum, and it looks like everything is sealed up nicely as the gauge hasn't moved in two hours.

If you don't own a vacuum pump I would say go ahead, and invest in one as they will pay for themselves if you ever have a problem with your AC.

Well I FINALLY got my damned new modem back from Verizon. They kept screwing up the shipping address so I finally was able to pick it up from the FedEx terminal yesterday.

Anyways, I had a problem with the truck overheating while I was charging the AC.

Yesterday I took off the rad cap to see if the thermostat was opening. I got some bubbles comming out when the thermostat did open.

At first I thought the Cometic head gaskets weren't sealing. But after checking the oil, and the exhaust for white smoke that just wasn't the case.

Today I cranked the engine with the rad cap off again, and let the bubbles, and coolant run wild.

Then I refilled the coolant, and put the rad cap back on, and cranked the engine again.

This time it went to 190 deg and stayed, for which I am glad I don't have to pull the heads.

Good to hear you're back online. Also good to hear you don't have to the engine apart Cuz that probly would've sucked.
