hey mate glad to see its gettin worked on lol. i just got a new starter for my truck and got the damn thing in there today and i ordered it last night lol. but now i gots problems. the damn thing will only run when i leave the starter engaged. but since it was rainin to friggin hard today i had to give up lol. i was soaked. but i got it in there and hopefully going to figure out wtf is goin on. and i love the new shocks lol. now i just gotta get a good set lol. front and back. but as soon as i get a fresh oil change in her and drive her around a bit i gotta park her and tear the head apart to put new valve guides in. dads all pissy about it cuz he thinks ima f*** shit up when i wont lol. just gotta have a place to work on it and light lol. but i got all the gaskets for it. also going to give some lucas oil heavy duty oil stabilizer stuff in it. spose to stop smokin and shit but we shall see lol. and i aint got no pics of the starter cuz it was to damn wet and i forgot about it lol will take some pics tomorow of the new starter in there lol. and all right another site for our trucks lol. and that would be nice if the mods could put the sites for our motors and such as a sticky so many post's would be erased if that happened. but i like the mud and the new shocks on her. gotta get mine runnin and tabbed in order for me to do that lol. but good luck mate keep us informed. oh and btw im subscribin to your project.

man i didnt know a starter could be such a pain haha. yea im gonna be doing some stuff just like that. i need to yank my head and rebuild it as well and i found out i need a full tune up from the sparkplugs to the rotor. new belts too. and ill also getting the matching shocks for the rear. good to know we are keeping these trucks around. they are seemingly very rare hahaha. cool to know i have a subscriber i have always been the dude following posts haha. i am excited to keep you all updated

yea the carbed verzions of the 2600 are very rare. i know of only like one or two in my hometown not counting mine that are still runnin. other wise its all 2600i's. and the starter isnt too bad. and make sure you have an optima in your truck cuz i just bought a brand new battery a lil over a year ago and its already hit the can. i charged it and it keeps dropping in voltage. piss me off.

haha your telling me i never see the 87-88's on craigsist or anywhere else. i got a new battery in my truck im not sure the brand but i dont have any voltage loss. do you have a wiring issue perhaps? so tonight i am going to go order my new rear shocks and a new set of plugs cause my plugs are seriously jacked lol. this project needs so many little things i am kinda overwhelmed lol. the money it needs in maintenance to keep running will prolly use up the money i need for my new cylinder head for the time being. hope the motor holds up til then hahaha

your tellin me mate. this thing is robbin the bank for maintenence. but if you really think about it your doin yourself a favor. your replacin all the old stuff and puttin in new. so in the end your saving yourself money lol. which is kinda nice lol. but you gotta remember these trucks are so old that not very many things are gunna stay runnin for much longer. but all well lol thats what you get for buyin old trucks lol.

yea i just ordered my new rear shocks cause the rears compress but dont rebound like they should so after the new fronts the rear is lower and that'll set me back 54 bucks. and i got a new set of ngk v-power plugs and a keyring gapper for like 12 bucks so she is getting better little by little! i wonder by chance if anyone knows why my front end feels loose and unstable? i know my tires are cupping and it needs and alignment but i wonder if there are any major bushings i should replace to tighten it up so its not wandery and scary going down I-5

i put new plugs in her and she runs smooth again. ill have some pics up tonight

You don't see many carb'd 2600s because it's the not so reliable/not in demand motor...

For justin: have your alternator tested, that could be the reason your losing charge... Or make sure all interior lights are actually off when your not driving it

As for the loose in the front, could be the sway bar bushings, end link bushings, or even possibly the bushings that go to the rods that set your tire caster... The angled bars that run from the front cross member to each lower control arm... I know mine need replacing, but I haven't really searched for replacements, cortnye's truck has polyurethane ones for hers...

yea i have noticed but in all honesty the fact that my engine still runs and as well as it does shows me that they arent as bad as people make em out to be as well haha. although ill admit mine g54b is far from pristine . i know my swaybar bushings are worn but this is a different feeling altogether. the caster bushings might very well be it. it feels so freaking aweful over bumps in the road at speed i really need to get it fixed it honestly feels dangerous at times.
