Well from looking at the rust and how far it might have spread under the paint it looks worse in person but I should also mention that about 8 years ago I was driving the truck as a daily and the clutch went out on a drive and I was already having a bad day so I got out of the truck and kicked its ass... leaving large dents under the ex cab windows on both sides. I've chilled out since those days but its coming back to haunt me now that were getting into it. I guess in the long run, I lost that fight LOL.
The dents can be fixed but if the rust is too far spread then we might just try to find another cab but so far I don't even have a lead on one locally.

x1989 thats nothing to fix

Any pointers on where to cut the rusted sections out and replace then? Im all for fixing it, though i'm not great with body work but since it's on the back of the cab it wont be too noticable.
Would you cut right down the edge of the cab? The rest of it looks to be in pretty good shape otherwise.

man u did that nice suspension work and u tellin me a lil cab corner got u worried i have faith in ya what i would do is get some measurements of the rotted area and go prob a inch or 2 past on all sides to make sure u get some good solid metal to work with then hit the junkyard (hopefully u got a battery powered saw-zall get ur replacement cab corners and then if u want i me to i would take ur pic u posted and make marks on it where i would cut and then ur golden tack the new piece u can use these but u shouldnt have to i use them on doing full panel replacements good ole harbor freight

Very nice work suspension looks awsome for the wrought I would cut the whole back out and replace it all smooth it out. The rest of the truck is shaved plus the fact you are body dropping it anyways.

Yep I'd just cut most of the back wall out and put a new piece of smooth sheet in there. Makes since since you are doing a traditional BD anyway.

Sounds like a plan to me. I'll cut into it and see what we're working with because i'd much rather not replace it since it's salvagable. The look of a smooth back cab is nice anyways. Thanks for the tip on the butt clamps Mazdalade, i'm going to order a set because those will be handy for more than this job too.

The forum seems a little slow lately so i'll contribute with this pic I took tonite. We got the compressors mounted to the frame and welded the link bar spike caps on... I think they look pretty cool The battery will get mounted to the frame tomorrow night, right behind the cab and then we will start body dropping the bed and build a sheet metal floor for it.

Looks good bud.. In the future when u set up shocks u should set them up to where they compress against the arc instead of away like u have.. Prolly wont hardly be able to tell on a mini but your just not optimizing the dampening of the shock.. Tube work looks really clean and I can't wait to see it all buttoned up
