What i would do, is take some 1/4" plate shape it how you want for the tab, and drill it for the bolt.. Run it straight back towards the cab an inch or so.. Enough to clear the bushing, And bend it on like a 45* angle or whatever, and weld it to the frame.. Then i would take another piece of 1/4" and put a gusset on it... And reverse the bolt, so that the nut is welded to the plate on the frame That would keep everything rigid enough, and probly look alot cleaner. I know it sucks having to re-do shit.. But you'll never build a clean truck if you cant sit down, look at your work, and realize where the faults are. The first trucks i built i had the atttitude like "fuck it, its done". And now with my yota im taking my time.. ive redone a few things that i didnt like, but its coming out awesome. And im actually proud to show my work to people now.
I would also plate in that little corner where the gas tank crossmember was, below the notch, If you havent already.. The frame on these trucks is pretty thin.
Like i said man, im not bustin on ya. But if theres one thing you learn from this.. Its take your time. And done be afraid to ask questions. You can have not so great skills, and if you just take your time, and measure twice, cut once, nobody would ever know. Good luck with the truck man. hope everything comes together.
