Ok so about a year I lowered the truck with B/T drop spindles and noticed that my tie rods had to be adjusted almost all the way just to get the front wheels to point straight. So I did the best home alignment I could until I got a real one done. So fast forward a few more weeks I finally went in and got the alignement with my supra rims on. The tech told me that the tie rods are adjusted to the max now and maybe he could get 2 more turns out of it. So over time I started to noticed that the truck darts all over the road with the Supra rims on (235 45 17 fronts 255 40 17 rear) but, when i throw on some stock (Taco) rims 205 70 15 the darting goes away.
I figure its part due to the lack of toe in adjustment and the wider tires on the Supra rims.
Has any one experienced this issue?
Is there anywhere I can get a longer tie rod so I can gain the extra toe in to help?
Or my other resolution is to run a 205 50 17 tire, my only concern is I dont like the sretched look of a narrower tire on a 8 wide rim?
Will a 205 on a 8 wide rim do that?
the pickup rims are hub centric. they are centered by the hubs. the supra rims are(most likely) lug centric. you have to have lug centric nuts to get the centered on your hub. the stock pickup nuts will not sufficiently do this.
heres a lovely illustration i poached from google
Well...as for your tire question I once had 300z rims on my truck & they were 8-inches wide so I ran 205/50-17's & they worked fine. They didnt have that stretched looked when the rim is too wide & the tire doesnt go to the edge of the rim. By the way the Supra rims look sic!!
300zx wheels only came in 7.5 for the NA cars and the 8.5 (on the rears) of the Turbo ones.
Im searching for a pic of 205 tire on a 8in wide rim.
Thanks I havent seen another 89-95 Yota rollin these wheels. I have seen a few Tacos though. The rears look much better in person. Ill try and grab some more pics from different angles later today.
