BAGGED BELAIR, i have a question for ya. Would this be considered illegal since it flashes? Here is a link to it: http://www.hitechledproducts.com/product_info.php?cPath=26_37&products_id=193&osCsid=c06693f1f4669d585428ca3218274310

In California. I'm saying it's legal, IMO I've seen new cars with a 3 flash indicator on the 3rd brake light. Our BMW police bikes have a supplemental studder l.e.d. 2nd brake light just below the regular brake light.

Some things are subjective. I don't know of anyone that would make a stop for a 3rd brake light flasher that flashes on application of the brakes. You hook it up to the regular taillights and you'll probably get stopped, cause it looks like it continues to flash a pattern every couple seconds. There are "catch alls" to almost every equipment section in the Ca code. I don't know anything about Texas Vehicle requirements.

If it says on the box, "for off road use only" your taking your chances. But a 3rd brakelight flasher is not a big deal.

so in cali whats the deal with the astro vans with no side windows or painted rear ones. Ive always thougth that you could get away with painting them as long as you have side mirrors. I mean its the same defference as walling off your vehicle with a sub enclosure. Its not like its gonna be a usefull space.

Joe most of the tint laws only apply to the front windows... I could be mistaken but most of the time you can do anything you want behind the driver and passenger door, but the front windows have a certain level in order to be legal

out of the all posts here, i only read the first 2, then jumped over to 3rd page and read belairs. Belair is the experinced officer, not i, ive only been a deputy since march, take what he says as the truth. Having you roll the window up is not harassment, he had you detained,he is investigating,he can have you pop your hood if he wants,he has reasonable suspicion that you have broken the law, about to break the law, or are currently breaking the law, therefore he has legal right to detain you until he is done investigating.

As belair stated when you are on the road with a modified vehicle you have made yourself a target,he is not going out of his way to get you, your driving infront of him with an illegial vehicle. Yes it sucks, the law is the law, pay the fine, be respectful and move on,that is all i can tell you,and hopefully your next law enforcment contact is positive. Negative contacts are not fun, ive been through plenty before i became a cop.

You should just accept the ticket, lecture, or what ever else the police wanna do. And if you can prove that your innocent then just do it legally in court. It's pretty shitty though knowing we pay taxes witch pay thier salery, then they're dicks to us... what a world

if your wife and kids are driving on a highway next to a potentially dangerous vehicle, wouldnt you want us trying to weed out these vehicles, and make it safer? Exacley, look at it from the publics point of view, who think cutting holes in our trucks, using thin tires, altering our taillights, and riding on air suspensions are dangerous.

With all the harassment.. I meant stops I have had this week, I shoulod have just ordered the damn caddy lights like everyone else has

And next time, when someone pulls me over, I will just fucking drag on his ass so he can have a REAL reason to pull me over

I dont bother the trucks with caddy lights. They're red, have reflectors built in as far as I can tell. They're the same as the ones on the caddy, right? Some of brothers in blue (and tan, in Ca.)have a problem managing their machismo.
