Ok, started looking at the '40 buick I just got trying to figure out what route I'm going with it... the thing is on coil springs all around, so it seems like a no brainer to bag it, but the front A-arms look like there going to hit the frame after only about 4-5" of drop... not nearly enough! anybody know where I could get one off arms made for it? I don't want to cut the originals at all, I want the option of going back to stock on this one...

I'd be happy w/ an extra 2" if that helps.... not sure what other option i'd have to keep it fairly stock...

this is what the goal is, but 4-5" only gets me to the top of the whitewall, i'd like it to at least tuck a little...

u just need to cut up into the frame higher on the front for the control arm to have more travel.i had to cut pretty high up on my caddy to lay it out.

just remember someone could make you arms but that car has wristpins with copper sleeves that have to be reamed they dont just have a bolt that holds the control arm on. someone could do it but make sure they know what they are doing. also look at speedway motors and other companies. if it is a factory disc bake car which chevy and buick had as an option starting in '37 you can get drop spindles but they are very exspensive.

how's the camber on these old cars if you just trim the frame for more clearance?

also, do the older ball joints have enough travel for that?

guess ill prob just have to take it apart and see...

Dude that car is sick and with that photoshop job you did just adds too it. Def. badass and be sure to keep us updated on that.

well, i didn't do the photoshop, so hopefully the guy who did will see the comment... and my car actually looks nothing like that... yet... just got it and it need total restoration, but in about 2 years it should be looking good!

I'll start a build profile as soon as i get all the extra parts out of the interior and inventory it all... need to know what I have thats good before I decide what chrome I'm going to keep and what's getting shaved... big fun!

Mostly I wanted to get a plan down for the suspension, because i want to get that done and see if it's going to need tubbed for wheels or not before i start on the roof...

Ive worked with that front end before.If you do it right they look bodydropped.
