Try running a temporary hose from the inlet of the pump to a clean can of gas and see if it fires than. This would tell you to look at the truck's feed line or tank. This may seem obvious, but it is my only advice. Good luck.

I'm actually pissed I had not though of this before hand, since I have done it in the past. Will at least help eliminate possible issues.

Seth i think its your flux capacitor valve. It must stuck!!! LOL What you need to do is get this manual hand pump and a 55 gallon drum and hook it up to the carb and all you have to do is pump the fuel while you drive!!! LOL sorry i couldnt help Seth

you replace your fuel lines? chance a fuel line may have been either smashed or kinked? try sucking fuel thru your fuel line and see if you get anything. if you havent replaced your lines or anything they may have gunked closed like a fat guys arteries

Well, I got it.

First problem with the new pump not putting fuel int he bowl, is that it is plumber differently than the stock one. I plumbed it the same way as the one I pulled off the truck. I also referenced this to the instructions, and they said the same thing as stock. Well when my friend got here he suggest pulling the fuel lines off and using your finger to figure out which one was sucking fuel while I cranked the motor. Turns out the diagram shows the return as the inlet, and vice verse. So with that, the bowl not fills up with fuel, but still won't fire.

So we check for spark with the old screwdriver trick. Big spark! So I think maybe my plugs are fowled from too much fuel. Only problem is I don't have a spark plug socket any longer (helped a friend lift a truck, lost lots of tools). So a trip to Wal-Mart at 8:30 since all the auto stores are closed, and 30 minutes of searching to find spark plug sockets! Yuss!

So, pull the plugs, and they are damn nasty. Soaked in gas, and dirty for some reason. Tried cleaning them, but was getting a very weak spark afterwards. So back to Wal-Mart at 9:30 and I feel very dirty having been to that shithole twice in a one hour period. They have the plugs I need.

So, new plugs, no fire. Fuck. So my friend says, I wonder if the gas is flammable? Sounds like a stupid question. So we pumped some gas into a gallon milk carton (clean) and pour a little on the floor for the lighter test. Its not flammable.

So all in all, I had 9 gallons if non flammable gasoline in my gas tank. I filled up on the way home from Reso for the last tiem heading into town, and got 3/4 of a tank (12 gallon tank, so 9 gallons). I'm guessing once I ran through the other 3 gallons in the tank, I got to some shitty gas that doesn't burn. WTF. So I put 2 gallons in from the can and it runs just perfect once again. Starts up on the first turn without touching the gas. I still can't explain why the stock fuel pump gave out though. I put it back on and it doesn't pump...

Either way, I'm happy it runs. But the new fuel pump whines something fierce and its incredibly annoying. I'm going to have to complain about that.

Electric pumps are pretty noisy too. This is to the guy who says to change to electric from mech.

I think it may have been a break in thing. After driving it for about 3-4 miles the noise stopped. Still makes me worried though. I don't want to get stranded anywhere.

awesome you got it fixed! it never fails in murphys laws - after doing the most difficult option first, its typically the easy option that fixes it at last!
