The scene is dead...This is what I have herd people say time after time. Here are my thoughts on it. I have been around the scene and going to shows for 23 years, the age as some of the people saying this. I say, just when you think the scene is dead, look back on how it was. There are more show now than there ever has been, There are more truck/car clubs now than there ever has been, The big clubs are bigger now than they ever have been.Now lets be honest for a sec, at one point or another you realize that being a Mini trucker or what ever you want to call it is a temporary hobby for some, a stepping stone for others for when they get older they get into hot rods where they get into something where they can get a $ return on what they build and have gathered the skills not to mess up what they build. and then there is the very small hand full of them that stay into the scene as you know it. as for me, I think i'll be a mini trucker for a long time but you never know.For the ones that drop out or move on to other types of autos. As they do one or the other they start falling out of the scene so they think it's about to die or that is how they see it.Some use magazines as one of the ways as proof for a dying scene but then again back several years back was the start of internet sites trying to start show coverage. that worked very well because they could copy the pic and keep it. then started Myspace and then Facebook, show coverage from even more people posting up show coverage. Not enough trucks in the mag for you say? To many adds in them you say? well, you should have been around 15 years ago. trying to find a place to buy parts for a custom application was impossible. But every year there are more people making custom parts for your "I need to tuck 26's and still turn the wheel" project.The biggest change that i have seen do to the internet was, When something new comes out on the scene like a new mod or a idea it spreads faster than a bad high school rumor. then everybody jumps on it. I can go on and on.... just look thru the the last 5 years of magazines and if your eyes are open to the scene then you will see the changes.So is the scene dead?Well, to you it might be dead or you might be dead to the scene but to the ones that are not sitting around waiting on others to come up with there next big idea it is still alive and kicking, You just need to step up your game......

If anyone is saying its dead wasn't at showfest this year that's for sure. It might have slowed down a little but that's more on the economy and how hard its been for lots of people to either find a job or be promoted to afford the new trends. 26" billets aren't cheap so i can see why a guy would rather build something old.

I know the scene is dead cause I cant sell a brand new air zenith 2+2 SUPER KIT that retails for over $800 for $650.... (Its in the classified section if anyone's interested.) No one is dropping money on their trucks and I really cant blame them, If I wasn't so broke all the time like i know everybody else is id keep these compressors and tanks and USE them.

That depends on what one considers "Minitruckin"...some people don't consider a bagged and bodied crewcab apart of "Minitruckin"...if that's the case then it's dead...who wants to squeeze into a bodied minitruck with no AC, head rubbing the roof, rubbing shoulders with your 1 passenger, and not having room for a bag of clothes...compared to a 4 door quad cab, with all factory ammenities, room for 4+, huge bed you can fill full of bags and coolers and all the comforts of a stock truck. Minitrucks are cool to look at...but driving them across states to a show is miserable unless you weigh 109lbs. If those people that are saying that do include Fullsizes in "Minitruckin"...then tell them their fucking stupid, and to make a trip out to Biloxi this weekend and see how dead the scene is. Aftermath has people coming from California to this show...36hr drive. Sounds dead to me...

you missed the point of that one.. I drive a bagged Dodge dually 3500 and im a mini trucker.. not mini as in the size of the body of your truck but as in the opposite of a lifted truck. when somebody looks a truck that has a large lift they say that is a big truck no matter the size of the body. if it is layed out it is small. two 1-ton trucks side by side, one is lifted and the other is layed out. Well, the layed out truck is the mini truck.. you are going off of the magazine MiniTruckin' because all they have is small and mid size body trucks.. I on the other hand was talking about Mini trucker's not MiniTruckin'..
"Mini Trucker is a frame of mind" the definition of Mini Trucker is. A person that looks at all automobiles and makes the statement,

That comment is in reference to a bitch fit that a bunch of dudes started on FB because I guy at a dealership called them punks and their trucks pieces of junk. They started a whole "discrimination" deal on FB because some nobody in Chicago didn't like their trucks. Long story...
Red that's how I look at it...bagged truck=Minitrucker. People's been saying that for years...those people obviously don't live in Texas. The scene is about as big as it can get here. My shops full with guys waiting for a spot...all good shows I attend are busting at the seams...if its dead, I'd sure hate to see it alive.
