The older mini truckers have paved the way by showing up in groups at hot rod hang outs and cruising strips back in the day. Making a presents. Which is hard to do when you cruise thru and accidently tilt your bed and spill your hot tub water all over a bunch of 57 Chevys. LOL

Jesus, another one of these threads? really? for fucks sake. Red, no offence to you, but threads like this are bullshit.

If some mythical "scene" is dead, are you going to stop having fun with your friends? are you going to stop enjoying the building of your truck? Are you going to forget about all the good times that are possible, or have had in the past? Are you not going to look forward with excitement to see what happens next?

Quite worrying if the "scene" is dead, and just have fun with your truck, your friends and your life. If i work up tommorrow and someone told me that its offical, the "scene" is dead, i would continue through my day like any other. Flat bill hats, dickie shorts and black socks might be dead, but people building bad ass trucks and being proud of it will never die, or go out of style.

Taylor nailed it.

I feel like people should just be worried about making their contribution to the scene. Be it throwing a show, helping a show, building a truck, helping a friend building a truck, hell buy a done truck, support a shop or business ran by someone in the scene, and so on and so forth. If people did a lot more of that, and less talking....the scene and it's life cycle would be a lot less of a concern.

My opinion. A lot of guys are older now. A lot of them in the family building stage in life, the scene lots a lot of active people to that, some I am sure will be back. Some went on to build hot rods, customs, or not at all. The rate at which new/young people are getting into the scene right now I feel is low compared to other points in time. How I gauge my opinion? I remember seeing minis daily and even full sizes daily. Bagged/dropped/whatever. It just doesn't happen that often anymore. I do agree with Big, a lot of people would rather drive a full size these days. Since you can't even buy much of any "Compact/mini" truck now from the manufactures. Most are at least mid sized. So guys are moving to full sizes and that will also make a impact.

I think a lot of younger kids build VW's, Hondas, etc now because they are often cheaper to get into and cheaper to customize (read drop em and put a roof rack on it with some stickers). A lot of those kids used to build a minitruck. The economy is still in rough times for a lot of people. This effects customs the same. Hot Rod shows are even down in areas. So its not like its just Minis.

Dead, nah the scene isn't dead at all, but it may be a bit foolish to suggest it isn't changing and contacting in places. Other areas are thriving, I mean Texas always has. When I lived in Texas trucks were everywhere, same when I went to LST in Feb. It was real hard to not assume the whole world was driving minis and full-sizes based on seeing that. Out in other parts of the USA, its not like that, at all. Not even close in fact. Everything has a life cycle. I think going back to my main point. We all can control that. Drive your truck, take young kid for a ride, let him hit your switches, whatever. Help get people involved and do your part. Could the scene actually die? Highly doubt that as well. But it can get real small if we all don't drive/show/enjoy/share and take out of the damn garage our trucks now and then.

This subject comes up once or twice a year.

If it was dead there wouldn't be any shops open. There wouldn't be companies selling products. Some companies wouldn't be as big as they are with a dead scene. At the end of the day. It is what you think it is. If it's dead to you then you have moved on from it.

Hold on, I got this..

This was not a question, this was not me going, "ooowww shit, what am i about to do?" It was a statement and nothing more because this subject does come up once or twice a year..

Jesus, another one of these threads? really? Well, "for fucks sake." Taylor, no offence to you, but threads like this are bullshit when some times somebody seems to get mad over it and say the same thing as what you just said but in another way. To sum up what I was talking about.. shit will change but it will not die so accept it, step up, or step out..

we all know it's not going to die, we all know this subject comes up every year, I have never posted anything on them in the past because I know how it is.

Let me also say this.. Just because you see the same thing from time to time come up is not really a reason to jump in with anger problems about it.. yes, you made a good point but so did most of the people that posted and all saying damn near the same thing.. Each one of us are not the same, and the reasons we may be in it my not be the same so we may not look at it the same way as the next man. for example, most of us don't make money off the "scene" by selling parts to build the custom rides, ""all thou it would be nice"" so they don't have there hands around it 24/7. I go to 15 to 20 show a year but some only have the money to hit 2 or 3 a year if that..

"Never mind", if you don't like seeing a topic pop up then move to the next one. dont start the "Jesus, another one of these threads? really? for fucks sake.. and then say ""no offence to you, but"" because people will take offence to that...

Remove the thread if you like, I dont care. I was saying whats on my mind..

Red, it seems like you are taking this personally. I hope you dont feel that anyone is mad or angry about anything, certinly not the case on my end. I dont get mad, hell i rarely get angry either. It seems like people are beating this topic around all the time, and all it seems to do is create doubt, or uncertainty.

If you are summing it up by saying "shit will change but it will not die so accept it, step up, or step out.." then i guess nothing about what you origionally wrote came off that way to me, or a number of other people.

I guess, i just dont see the reason to even suggest or imply that any scene is dead at all.

In regards to just not replying to a topic if you dont like it, that same can be applied to you responding to my post, correct? Im not here to argue with you about anything, you stated your opinion, i stated mine. Im a nobody bro, i go to 1 show a year, literally 1 show a year, I sit in my shop and build parts all day, every day. I personally get to meet almost nobody each year, or see anybody outside of my shop, or who call me. I wish that was different, i wish i could get to 15-20 shows a year, that would be a dream, but its just not happening for me. I call it as i see it. When i see a topic sprout up again questioning the status of the "scene" i post exactly as i feel about it. Again, im sorry if you were offended by it, it was not my intent.

"fucken shit, not this again!" just kidding!

When people ask me about this topic, I simply say "who cares." Just do what you want, go about your day and enjoy what you enjoy. If some douche bags want to move on then let them. In twenty years ill be polishing the wheels on my Mini in the garage while my grand kids ride hover boards. I'll probably be texting Brandt to tell him he's a douche and I need some new shirts! lol

Let me break down what i wrote..

This is where i talk about proof the scene is not dead..just when you think the scene is dead, look back on how it was. There are more show now than there ever has been, There are more truck/car clubs now than there ever has been, The big clubs are bigger now than they ever have been.then I add to it latter in the statment with, you should have been around 15 years ago. trying to find a place to buy parts for a custom application was impossible. But every year there are more people making custom parts for your "I need to tuck 26's and still turn the wheel" project.

I also talked about how you will notice people change so you will see people drop out of this "scene"at one point or another you realize that being a Mini trucker or what ever you want to call it is a temporary hobby for some, a stepping stone for others for when they get older they get into hot rods where they get into something where they can get a $ return on what they build and have gathered the skills not to mess up what they build. and then there is the very small hand full of them that stay into the scene as you know it.

The trasnsition people take that leads them to belive it's dying but it's them that is changingFor the ones that drop out or move on to other types of autos. As they do one or the other they start falling out of the scene so they think it's about to die or that is how they see it.

The other part of what i was talking about was, "change does not mean it's dying"..several years back was the start of internet sites trying to start show coverage. that worked very well because they could copy the pic and keep it. then started Myspace and then Facebook, show coverage from even more people posting up show coverage. even tho the hole thing is about change I went on to say,The biggest change that i have seen do to the internet was, When something new comes out on the scene like a new mod or a idea it spreads faster than a bad high school rumor. then everybody jumps on it. I can go on and on.... just look thru the the last 5 years of magazines and if your eyes are open to the scene then you will see the changes.

Then I end with the deal with it part..So is the scene dead?Well, to you it might be dead or you might be dead to the scene but to the ones that are not sitting around waiting on others to come up with there next big idea, it is still alive and kicking, You just need to step up your game......

I might have got weard with some of my wording but never did i state that it is dying or suggest that it is dead.

I know some people don't read it but just glance over it and say "Thats bull shit, it's not dying!" then want to tell me how they know it's not dying and it will be similar to what i typed.

I don't think anybody is mad at me but I do take it personal when I post something and then somebody comes in and typs "Jesus, another one of these threads? really? for fucks sake. Red, no offence to you, but threads like this are bullshit." they made it personal when they use my name and talk to me directly.. I don't know how els to take it when it's to me..
jeebus @ mmw   +1y
I can see this is like beating around a dead horse.

Sorry if you took what i said the wrong way, apparently i took your inital post and title the wrong way as well. I used your name because your the origionator of the post, you were the person i was talking to. Its not like i called you an ashhole or anything, damn. I was saying, to you, that i felt that topics like this are bullshit, and each time they are bought up on this site, generate drama. Thats all. I took no personal stab to you at all, nor would I ever.

"scene" dead, alive.. whatever.
