Thanks Krew. That seemed like the best solution to me also. Just wanted to get someone else's opinion before I started hacking away lol.
As far as the aftermarket arms go. I really wish I had the cash but it's just not in the cards right now.

I had about an hour off work today so I got the upper part of my Z gusseted with some 1/4" thick 2x4, and than tied in the top with some 3/16" steel plate. I welded on the top piece but I'm going to wait till I get it back to the shop to weld up the actual gussets. I don't trust my little welder at my house to make that important of a structural weld.

I also got the trans. X member cut out and tacked in. I used 1/4" thick 2x4 for the x member also. I'm going to weld on a piece of steel plate to bolt the actual trans mount to and than gusset the plate up. My little brother is supposed to be working on a strong and structurally sound piece that will allow us to remove the center section of the cross member for easy engine and trans. removal if that's ever needed.

Downtoearth I would be really surprised if I beat you done, but we'll see. Between work, my girl, and raising a 10 month old child I don't have near the time I'd like.
Sparky I'm a cheap ass dude. I'm gunna pie cut and see if that gets me there and save the cash.
Tulsaprez I'll snap some pix for ya before, during, and after the lowers when I get around to doing them.

I slid away for an hour or two today and got the rest of my frame rails welded in. Just have to brace, plate and finish weld all of it now. Once that's done the engine and cab are going back on.

I got my upper control arms relief cut to start pie cutting them. I think it's about low enough now to lay the rocker out. I just have to get new tires now to make sure. The current tires are huge. I don't want to set the suspension up for these huge things. I think their about 3" taller than the tires I'll have on it with the semi's. the current size on it is 235/85-16. I'm going to check out some tire sizes tonight and see what I can figure out.

I just have to brace the lower side of the Z and plate the sides now. After that the cab, engine, and trans are going back on. Hopefully I can get some time to drag it back to my little bros shop and get everything back to together and finish welded in the next week or two.

Thanks Bear!!
Well my house still isn't sold, and since my girl and I both work for the school district we're off work for the summer. So I guess we're going to move back into the house we own. That's going to put me about 15 minutes away from the shop instead of a 2 hour round trip. That's also where the rest of the truck is, so that should really help speed this build up. Not to mention all of our big shop equipment is there and my little bro to help me out. Hopefully I can get a lot done over the next 2 months.

i'm not suprized the house doesnt sell with the crisis and all but i am suprized you moved out of it while it wasnt sold yet to live in a rented apartment , it makes the overhead kindah big (rent morgage power and water for both places stuff like that )
at least its better than having bought a new place and being stuck with the old one
