Not to much serious happening lately. I spent some time cutting a patch panel (from my old banged up tailgate)and banging it out so it wrapped around the corner of the cab. Some of the tacks were into metal that was pretty deteriorated already because i didnt want to get that close to that corner of the body. It may not be 100% pretty but the ONLY welding i have ever done before this was on the front fenders and i'm happy with how it turned out.

before

I wanted the corner was strong before i start to nock that horrible dent out. I also have a little patching on the other side i plan on doing today. my welding skills are alright considering i have no training or even guiduince on what i am doing but i still would prefer if my friend who is a certified welding by trade would come and help me with the notch, 4 link and front bag brackets. unfortunetly my friends share zero interest in my project and i am always working on it alone so i might just have to end up doing it myself.

looks good man... if you need any welding advice let me know my dads been doing it for over 25 years, I can probably get you any info you need... I'm always willing to let a hand when need be, and I'm sure my dad would be more then willing to give advice... as he has done all the major welding for me on my truck.

Lovin this build. We are literally neck and neck as to where we both are. Your photos of your front bag are friggin' identical to mine. I'm not running RE-6s, but they are almost the same dimensions. I can send you some pics of how mine is. I'm in the same spot as you. Front bag mounts are tacked in, just deciding if I'm happy with them. I think I am now. They collapse perfectly flat, and they don't touch anything really. The inside of the bag touches the frame rail VERY gently when at 0psi, but I'm not really concerned. When I put a piece of paper between the bag and frame, it doesn't even rub with enough force to tear the paper, and it only touches in the last 1/2" of travel.

My main concern is that they don't rise perfectly verticle when inflated (And I don't think they can with the way the front of a B2200 is). The top and bottom plates aren't perfectly parallel. They are out probably 15* from each other when fully inflated. Doesn't look like much but kind of worries me still?

Anyway, I'll get out there and try and snap some shots of how mine looks.

Finding the rear end location isn't that hard either. If you are still having problems with that let me know and I can give you a writeup of how we did mine. It was probably overkill, but putting a lot of time into measuring and squaring things up makes your life so easy.

Anyway. Back out to the garage. Keep updating your build, I'm loving having another local mazda build to mooch info off of!

No worries, this is supposed to lift this way. If your bag collapses flat and doesn't rub then you have done good. I don't know anyone who drives around on a constant basis at full lift putting that stress on the bag. If they do then they won't for long as that takes away all the ride quality and puts all the flexing into the frame and other components.

Keep up the good work Sask!

i dont know if you are looking for patch panels but these people deal with all kind of replacement parts so check them out bro maybe you will find something your looking for....

those welds dont look bad at all man

those welds look great for no guidance. that is great for sheet metal. I would advise you to practice a good bit on thicker materials and do a little research on the net for structural welding before you tackle the notch and 4 link. i would hate to see something break. Not being a dick by any means. just trying to give some pre maintenance advice man.

yeah deff. do some research and ask lots of questions before welding up the notches. i drew up a quick pic. just for a little advice, my dad said this is one of the more important things when welding thicker metals together

by putting an angle on each one of the pieces, it allows you to be able to get the weld threw the whole thing (left side of pic), what he did was do a small bead first (blue), and then on your second pass do a bigger bead to really weld it solid.(red) (right side of pic)
