Yep NYTRYDR,those are funky lookin valve springs.Being intimately familiar with my springs as is Tweaker(we both chased them sob all across our respective garages)they do indeed not look like anything I am familiar with.all sorts of curious things about that little mota but I am very apprciative that someone took the pics of it and posted it up.I am also real po'd at the dum-m-m-m-azz that dropped.it.I guess my question is now where are the replacement parts comin from??? I dont think anything on the front end of that mota looks stock.BJ

Ok went to pull the "magnum motor on sunday but ran out of time. I did take a pic of the oil filter housing with the cooler explains the longer tube. Now this one got me we pulled the timing cover to make sure the belt was on right, it was. The thing that really caught my eye was the upper timing gear was like billet like a sprocket off a high end dirt bike only with the belt grooves on it. The valve springs are normal, stocks are like a progressive spring tighter coils on the bottom and spread more on top. We got the motor to fire but has a rod or wrist pin loose so we didnt try any more, didnt want to hurt it. So now we need to pull it and see whats inside. Ill post a pic of the oil housing.

I just got off of the phone with the seller. He is going to help me to locate the parts and is going to help with the cost. I told him that I am willing to help with some of the cost as for it was not directly his fault. He gave me a number to a place called Montgomery Mazda online in North Carolina. I got the part numbers and got some prices locally. The dealerships local are quite pricey compared to Montogomery Mazda. I hope the covers fit along with the front (cast) housing. Well I'll keep everyone updated. I am planing on taking more pics in the near future of the internals.

Unless me old eyes are decieving me, the pic above shows what appears to be a stock Maz alternator with the choke heating wire coming off the back.My understanding is that the MAGNUm mota is FI'd and turboed. No need for a choke heater wire.????BJ By the way Magnum spelled backwards is MUNGAM-what that means I have no idea.Hee-hee.BJ

It is a carbed motor. It has the magnum cover and we were told it was a magnum from the old owner. I am still waiting to pull the pan and take a peak at the rods and see what pistons were in it. The thing thats got me was the upper belt gear, it was a billet type gear and was pretty nice looking if i had it it would get polished and no cover put on . I will post once we get into the motor and possibly pics.
