On another note, won't be getting much work done on the Mazda for a couple months. Working out of town on a job site, 6 10's plus per diem until at least Thanksgiving. So I'll have no life or free time, but raking in the cash. At least it will help pay for this engine swap, the wedding, honeymoon, and glock I want to buy lol.

Exactly, keep me in mind for the 4cyl stuff you pull off Lil Red. I really wanna do the mechanical lifter conversion, but finding a used 2.0 head in good shape is hard.

did you check to see if maybe you just spun a rod bearing in the old 2.2? you could have maybe gotten away with dropping the oilpan and swapping the bearings out. mine did that years ago

No I didn't check. Probably would have been the smart thing to do... But now that I have the parts, I'm looking forward to putting the V8 in there.
