I think u misunderstood me.. I mean if u are putting that thing on the road at all the 4 link should be a now thing not a future thing.. that is just plain unsafe for u and the people around u on the road. We've all bought things and had to fix stuff on em but that don't need to wait. All the energy ur using to sand it you could've already built a 3 link... cost u about 100 in materials and consumables... and the welds.... well ur idea of good welding and my idea of what a good weld looks like is a bit different lol... not trying to harp but I just don't wanna get on the forum tomorrow to hear about u in some accident because the leafspring snapped because thqt is not how they are designed to work...

i understand that. i am close to work so i walk. i have drove it a couple times but currently it is sitting. the sanding part i had all the sand paper already. money is tight so doing the new link setup isnt to easy for me, but in time it will get done and i will be able to get it on the road for some dragging shots.

the alt i havent delt with yet either but until it is on the road again i am not to worried about it.

i know the link in back pushes it forward and is limiting lift as well and would think the pinion is prolly off also. but over all isnt a bad start, it will get there very soon.

its a really good start bud... wish mine was that nice lol... i got it then pulled the cab off only to find had been in a major front end collision... yippie me.. it was supposed to be a quick and easy build turned into something else entirely lol

hey when your working on the front end next time ... cut off that upper snubber mount off drivers side to match passenger.....it will limit your lift and is also not needed like the passenger side one that was removed already....just cut it straight off the frame...mout and all

nothing like finding wrinkles and heat marks on a frame rail.....to bad u are far away i know where a couple frames are...

as soon as i get my new cutoff wheel tool i will do that. got bored yesterday so i disconnected all the lines and unbolted the bed. there is more link tabs on the rear then i have ever seen a truck have.. lol

this is under the bed:
notice the 2 link tabs on the rear crossmember and the 2 partially cut off in the middle of it, then we have 2 tabs on the next crossmember and the messed up link setup, and to add to that under the axle is link tabs plus the lower bag mounts.. cant wait to get to cutting it all off and get to redoing.

the gas tank sits about an inch off the ground, is that about normal when layed out?
as they notched the bed for it and extended supports for some reason:

Im really not sure how this truck was ever driven. Who ever designed all that is, well, ill hold my tongue. Best of luck to you in your quest to fix er up!

thanks. i cant wait to get it done so i can begin on other things for it. are reverse 4 links good? i heard they can and can't be.. am wondering cause i might try one out when i get to redoing the link setup. thinking the lower bars from the cab to the axle like normal and then the rear bars triangulated like in the pic. here is a pic of what i am thinking, red is the bars, the off white will all be removed:

once i get the leaf brackets out it will lay more in the rear as they hit before the frame. the front isnt laying but as to why yet i am not sure, will know when i get to tearing the front out later.
