if im not mistaken, to have 0 bumpsteer the tierods pivot point needs to be in the middle of the upper and lower control arm mounts (not up and down, but centered right to left in between the upper and lower mounts), and parallel with the lower control arm.

i know a crown vic uses the same type of upper balljoint and the total displacement between the lower and uppers is only 12 inches but i am not sure about the location of the tie rod end...i am pretty sure the spidle will accept the rotors and everyhting from the ranger with no modifications.

MR mufukkas drawing is the correct one.
I use a book called "how to build hot rod suspension" it has pics from Boyds mostly. it
shows diagrams, drawing, pictures and even has some big fancy words in it.
basically it shows the suspension geometry that has to be followed in order to have working suspension.
the angle of the control arms in relation to each other is also very important. if you raise just the upper arm mounts and not the lowers you have changed that angle too.

go ahead and do whatever you think is right. you have some "buddy" who did one or you saw one at a show or some shop and it didnt "seem" to have any problems or your buddies truck "works fine" or whatever.....

id rather stick with geometry on this. im not doing someones truck and have it jump from one lane to the next on the highway and get the guy killed. id rather do the extra work and have it be right geometrically speaking. then my ass is covered.
I dont do half ass jobs, and not doing something proper just because its more work is half assing it. sorry I dont do that. the thing here is that it seems that 90% of the people doing this mod or knowing about it are uninformed of the geometry involved and therefore dont know they are doing it wrong.

Michael, I need to throw in a f150 question. I put the belltech spindles on mine (2001) and the spindles raised the tierod mount by about 2" and this seems to have developed the same issues that your talking about, where the toe changes drastically as height is changed. will flipping the tie rod end upside down help with this? (it appears to put it almost exactly where it was stock) Nothing else is modified up front except for bags and spindles. Is this change because the tierod is no longer following the same arc as the lower control arm? Or is something else happening that I can correct somehow?

help??

if you can get the tie rod end to go in from the bottom then do it. if not then get a drill bit for that taper and drill it then install it on the bottom. that should help.

thanks man, i'll flip em this weekend then!

Ok, i flipped the tie rods, made it TONS better, probably fine once i get it aligned now! thanks!

i am glad u dont want to half ass ur truck and thats all great but gemotry is a non moving aspect...the geometry could be all right and everything but if the mechanism doesnt work then what matters about gemotry.. either way there is no real solution to this problem so any way to help it is good i guess.

i have an 06 f150 and im having the same prob. Its bagged but cant ride low without worrying about my tires. the camber is pretty bad when i ride low. will  the upper arms fix my prob. or do i need to raise both upper and lower like someone previously said. hopefully just rasing will fix my camber.. if not what are my other options? pls help
